Cirrhosis is an end-stage liver disease in which healthy liver tissue is replaced with scar tissue and the liver is considerably damaged. The liver is located in the upper right area of the human abdomen, below the diaphragm, and above the stomach. It performs filtration of the blood that changes the substances into simpler forms that could be used in the body with ease. Scars prevent the liver from working properly.
Symptoms of liver cirrhosis are divided into two technical stages: compensated cirrhosis and decompensate cirrhosis.
With timely detection and treatment, it is possible to return from the decompensate stage to the compensated stage.
Compensated cirrhosis- This is the asymptomatic stage. The liver may still be injured but not severe enough to cause much or no symptoms.
